"An immersive exhibition in New Delhi brought together experimental cinema, alternative photography, and visual essays to explore migration, memory, and the poetic possibilities of film."
Melancholic journey | 'A Voyage to Permanence' immersive exhibition
An exhibition based around three experimental films by Purandar Chaudhuri explores themes of memory, migration, erasure and survival
"Building around Chaudhuri’s three experimental films, namely Dhushor, Tremors, and Impressions of Mingling, the five-day event reimagines cinema within the context of visual art."
The films are customised for "immersive viewing, supported by state-of-the-art audio-visual design, allowing audiences to encounter them not as conventional narratives but as aesthetic meditations" oscillating between abstraction and figuration.
"Curated by Johny ML, this immersive exhibition centres on experimental films by Purandar Chaudhuri, transforming cinema into a gallery experience through screenings, photography, installations, and live programming that reflect on migration, memory, and the poetry of the moving image. "
"For the past seven years Purandar Chaudhuri has been straddling the world of films and occupying a senior managerial position at a coffee chain. His three films, screened for the first time in Delhi, explore themes of migration, ageing, and the search for meaning in everyday life."
